That’s why I have experimented in the mochi kitchen. If it’s someone too much sugar in the recipe for the mochi balls, you can do it without any sugar and took other spieces instead. Because of the rice, the balls give a lot of energy. By the way, the recipe is not just vegetarian, it’s vegan too.

With or without sugar as you like it
I add 2 teaspones sugar to the basic dough

Preparation for Fried Mochidumplings with Hoisin sauce
After preparing the mochi doug knead it with wet hands.
Divide it into several pieces and form small balls.
Heat a small pan. Place the balls individually in the frying pan. Fry them crispy brown. (You don’t need oil for roasting) Be careful when struck against each other. Then they stick together and have to be separated from each other.
When they are ready, put them on a plate. Serve the hoisin sauce.
